Hello Blogger World

I have been out of touch with my BlogSpot and the truth is...I miss it! I have been in Grad school for well over a year now and I just don't have the time to dedicate to my Movie hobby or anything that resembles a life worth blogging about! The last movie I saw at home via NETFLIX was The King's Speech, to which my reaction was..."Where the OTs at?" It was a great movie and totally did a phenomenal job glorifying Speech Pathologist. So I ask this, "Does anyone know what an Occupational Therapist is?"...::Crickets:: The truth is unless you personally had to go to one, or have been sequestered by me with a full definition starting from the beginning of time to my current Master's Project, your answer is probably, "NO"! Which is why I say to my OTs out there, "I think SPs are up to something here..lets make a movie about our fantastic profession as well!!" :) All in in all, if you haven't seen the movie, you should. It's based on the true story of King Edward VIII and his struggle to over come his speech impediment. http://www.kingsspeech.com/ Great Job Speech! :)

So, for my upcoming movies I'm hoping to go see Paranormal Activity 3 and Breaking Dawn. Anyone have any thoughts on Like Crazy??

Sex and the City 2 and a French disappointment:

Sex and the City 2
s1

SATC fans this one is for you! Despite the horror reviews given to Sex and the City 2, I have to say I really enjoyed it! I laughed out loud, clapped my hands and threw my head back in response to the humor and outrageousness that only SATC could bring to the big screen. To be honest, I went there expecting not to like it. Although I am a huge SATC fan, I really hated these ads…
s2

I just felt they were overly air brushed and cheesy. These ads did not do the movie justice. Yes, the movie was over the top, rich and glamorous but the whole “New Middle East experience” was to die for and the ads should have played more on that.
s3

I don’t believe in spoilers, so I won’t give too much away. Samantha manages to work a public relations deal to get herself and the girls an all expense paid trip to Abu Dhabi. What starts out to be the trip of a life time, quickly turns sour when Samantha finds that public displays of kissing or sex are forbidden. Miranda turns out to be the fun and exciting one in the movie for a change, which was refreshing. She quits her job and invests her energy in exploring the Abu Dhabi culture. Charlotte finds herself relieved from her mommy duties, as Carrie is looking for a cure for what she fears will be the end of her and Mr. Big’s exciting Marriage. In her search to find that sparkle in her life that once made her feel alive she runs into an old flame, AIDAN!!! <3

OMG he is just Gorgeous!!!!

What happens next? You have to watch to find out, but I promise you, if you’re a fan you will not be disappointed. The only part of the movie which was horrible was the Karaoke scene but I definitely recommend this one!

As for myself I realized it’s not a boyfriend I need but an Indian butler like Guarau..::wink, wink::

Lol…here are some pics of Zoe, Jona and I having our Pink Punk Cosmos before the SATC movie ^_^

A French Disappointment

As promised, I went to Park Slope with my friend Jona a little over a week ago to CafĂ© Moutarde, to check out one of the locations in which Julie/ Julia was filmed, and it was closed!!!! It turns out that it’s under going renovations, which was very upsetting for me for a couple of reasons: 1) We were hungry and 2) this means the inside will now look different to when the movie was filmed :( I will give it another shot soon but I have to call and find out when they plan on reopening. So here are some pictures of my French disappointment:

"Apollo Creed meets the Italian Stallion, Sounds like a damn monster movie." Rocky (1976)

Photobucket

I took these pictures in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the famous steps that Rocky Balboa ran up. There are 72 steps to be exact, they can be seen in Rocky and its sequels II, III, IV and Rocky Balboa. The steps actually lead to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Of course when I got there I ran up the steps and it's not as difficult as one may have imagined. I watched children and older folks run up the steps as well =) It was a snowy day but it was beautiful all the same.

Next I'm planning on going to the cafe in Carol Gardens where Julie/ Julia was filmed. I have a few more pictures to post of other Movies I've done. If you know of any cool places in New York where a movie was filmed, please let me know. I'm always looking for new spots.

I'm sorry, Big Daddy!

Here is to my 2 followers that actually keep up with my blog...I'm very sorry for letting the ball drop, I have heard back from a couple of you wondering what happened? Honestly, I have not made the time to update and it seems that keeping up my blog will be close to impossible in the coming months. Although I can talk movies all day, responsibility has a different agenda. I will do my best to update biweekly, again when and if school and work will allow it.

I had promised before to show you some pictures that I took at the Hooters in the city where Big Daddy was filmed, so here they are:

I went with a few friends to check out the place, I had never been there and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic and I would definitely go back for those buffalo wings!

Inspired

Photobucket I apologize about not blogging recently; I have been super busy with "life responsibilities"! This movie lover has so many things to keep on top of, she just hasn’t found the time to relax and watch some flicks. Which leads me straight to the point of this blog.

my_sisters_keeper Pictures, Images and Photos

I recently Netflixed My Sister’s Keeper, which is a must if you have not yet seen it! Sometimes, I try to stay away from a movie that will evidently make me cry but this movie was more than a tear jerker, it was inspiring. Sometimes, in our busy lives we are so busy “doing” that we don’t step back and appreciate what we done. Sometimes we need a reminder that while we are living our lives one day at a time, that “time” is limited. I’m not trying to sound pessimistic but it is a reality for all of us. Death and taxes, right? After I watched this movie, which is about a teenage girl who is dying of cancer, I was inspired not only to live but to live it fully. The story is a good one, heartfelt and written beautifully!
Photobucket
After I watched My sister’s Keeper I watched The Lovely Bones, without going into great detail about it, it was everything you would expected from a Peter Jackson’s film, thrilling, lavish cinematography and a touching story. This movie was about a young girl whose life was cut short by a sick, creepy, murder. What I loved about this movie was the seeing how the story develops after her death. How differently people deal with death and I loved the scenes of Susie’s after life. I always enjoy seeing how people invision the idea of heaven.
Photobucket
Watching both these movies within a week’s time struck a chord in me. I feel as if I’m always working towards a milestone or chapter in my life when I will finally feel fulfilled and truly happy, that I let so much of life pass me by trying to get there. I want to be happy in every moment, even in my transitional, grey ones. So instead of always talking about wanting to learn to play guitar, I finally signed up for it and took my first class last week. I learned to crochet this month and finished a scarf yesterday. Although this may seem like nothing to some people, it’s exactly what I have always wanted to do. Now I have too many hobbies to keep up with! LOL but I’m proud of myself, and while I’m on this road to a more fulfilling everyday life, I’m looking to volunteer more often with NYCares.org. I loved the few projects I picked up last year and would love to do some more.

Photobucket

So my message to you today is: Go out and get inspired! Do that thing you always wanted to do and become a better version of you! I'm sure there are tons of wonderful things inside you just dying to come out, let that bottled up creativity find its place in the world. As long as you're alive...it's never too late.

The scare was there to stay…

Photobucket

Scaredy cat doesn’t begin to cover it! So, last night my bother-in-law, once again, brought over a scary movie to watch. Even though I told him I refused to watch Paranormal Activity, it made no difference. There I was against my own good reasoning enduring, what I feel, is plain human torture! If you haven’t seen this movie, I won’t ruin it for you. It’s not a scary movie in the sense that it has all those suspenseful scenes; it has everything to do with messing with your head. The whole idea of the unseen is sometimes harder to deal with than seeing it right in front of you. It definitely plays on all those things that happen to you at night that you just brush off by saying, “Oh, it was just the wind”…or was it? The fear of the progression of those little things is frightening, “what if my hand hangs of the bed… will something pull on it?” That idea of being pulled off my bed by an unseen entity, by any of my extremities, was all I needed to keep me up at night. We later attempted to watch Tim Burrton’s 9 but it was no use, the scare was there to stay! It was 4 in the morning and there I was lamp on, door open (so my dog could sense the evil being and I could jump in to prayer action before it was too late) and the TV on, watching The Hills and I still bugged out. “What if…?” By the way, I chickened out in the end of the movie and physically stopped watching it, but I remained in the room crocheting as the movie was still playing. I would look up now and then but I was really too Chicken to keep watching it. So if you are excited by any of this, go ahead and rent it. Come back and let me know how you slept or if you slept at all!
